Mercedes E Class AC gas refill, how do I know it was done right?

I paid for something last week and I am still not sure I got what I paid for, so I want to hear from people who know more than me. I have a 2017 Mercedes E Class and the AC was getting weaker slowly over the summer. It was never hot, just not cold enough, and my kids kept complaining in the back seat. A neighbor told me it only needed a refill and that it would take twenty minutes. I went to a garage, they connected a machine, added gas and told me it was done. The air was cold when I left, but I never saw a gauge or a paper with numbers. Now after one week the air is a little weaker again, and I wonder if the gas is leaking or if they put the wrong amount. My brother says a refill should last a year or more. My friend with a C Class said his lasted only a month, and it turned out to be a small leak at a pipe. I did not know who to believe, so one night I read about it online. I opened a page about Mercedes cars on a Sharjah website to learn how the gas, the pressure and the seals work together. It said the right amount of gas matters a lot, because too little or too much can both make the AC weak. I never knew that. Then a coworker told me to look for a Premium Mercedes AC gas refill in Sharjah next time and ask them to show the pressure numbers before and after. I liked that tip because I never saw any numbers at my garage. So I have some questions. How long should the gas last after a proper refill on a Mercedes, a few months or a few years? Should I ask for a leak test if the AC gets weak again so fast? Can too much gas hurt the compressor, and how would I know? And what is a fair price for a refill with a proper check? If you had the same thing on your Mercedes, please tell me what the problem was and what you did. Thanks a lot.
